Toronto Stocks End Four-Session Winning Streak
(RTTNews) - Bay Street stocks lost ground on Thursday, but finished off their lows of the session. The market fell for the first time in five sessions.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index fell 52.39 points or 0.44% to settle at 11,600.30. The index had earlier dropped below 11,500.
The Energy Index dropped 1.2% as crude oil lost more than $2 on the NYMEX. Encana (ECA.TO) fell 2.9%, Canadian Oil Sands (COS.UN.TO) lost 2% and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO) lost 1.2%.
Manulife Financial (MFC.TO) dropped 6.1% after the company said it will raise C$2.5 billion through a common equity offering in a bought deal at C$19.00 per share.
