Half Of UK Firms Intend To Freeze Remuneration

(RTTNews) - Around 47% of British firms plan to freeze wages at their next review, according to results of a survey reported by the Financial Times on Monday. The survey that was conducted by the Confederation of British Industry and the recruitment consultancy Harvey Nash revealed that half of companies reduced graduate recruitment and working from home soared in popularity.

John Cridland, CBI deputy director-general said, “Market conditions continue to be tough and growth in 2010 will be feeble, so pay is going to be squeezed for some time to come.” Cridland added that the half of companies, which are cash-constrained cannot raise wages at all and are going to face that situation in 2010 just as they were in 2009.
