Indian Market Up In Early Trade
(RTTNews) - The Indian market is higher in early trading on Tuesday, extending its winning streak to the fifth straight session. Firm global cues and a slew of investor friendly measures announced by market regulator SEBI helped maintain the buoyancy.
Currently, the BSE Sensex is trading near the day’s high at 16,645, up 146 points or 0.89% and the S&P CNX Nifty is trading at 4,931, up 0.66%. The BSE mid-cap index is moving up 0.63% and the small-cap index by a percent. The market breadth on the BSE is extremely positive, with 1351 gainers versus 598 decliners. Metal, banking and realty stocks are outperforming the broader market.
Among the top gainers, Reliance Infrastructure is rising 4.66%, Reliance Industries is up over 3%, ACC is gaining 2.47% and Reliance Communication and ICICI Bank are up around 2% each.
Wipro, SBI, DLF, HDFC Bank, ONGC, BHEL, Grasim Industries, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC , Bharti Airtel and Tata Motors are the other prominent gainers.
However, Maruti Suzuki, Hero Honda Motors, Jaiprakash Associates, Hindalco, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Tata Power, Larsen & Toubro and BHEL are trading in the red.
HDFC Bank is up nearly a percent on reports it disbursed Rs.3,000 crore of retail loans in October. Unichem Laboratories is surging up over 6% after receiving the U.S FDA approval for its bulk drug [API] facility situated at Pithampur.
NTPC is up a modest 0.30% on news that it would set up a 2,640 megawatt thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh. Bajaj Auto is up 0.72% on reports it will announce the details of a joint venture project for making an ultra low-cost car today.
Tata Steel said its subsidiary Tata Steel Global Minerals Holdings has tied up with Canada’s New Millennium Capital and LabMag for developing a direct shipment ore project in Canada. The stock is up 0.12%.
Hindalco Industries is down 0.62% on reports it is raising Rs.2,900 core via a institutional share placement. Neyveli Lignite Corporation is down modestly after it decided to set up a 50-MW capacity Wind Power Project in Tamil Nadu.
