UK Sept. Industrial Output Growth Tops Expectations

(RTTNews) - Thursday, the Office for National Statistics said UK’s industrial production grew 1.6% in September from the prior month, while the expected increase was 1.2%. In August, production had declined by a revised 2.6%. Meanwhile, production was down 10.3% on a yearly basis, in line with expectations.

Output of the manufacturing industries increased 1.7% month-on-month, following a revised 2% fall in August. Compared to September 2008, production slipped 9.3% versus a revised 11.6% decrease in August. Economists were expecting a monthly growth of 1% and an annual 9.7% drop.
