India’s Exports Decline In September

(RTTNews) - Indian exports decreased 13.8% year-on-year to US$ 13.61 billion in September from US$ 15.79 billion a year ago, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday.

At the same time, imports dropped 31.3% on an annual basis to US$ 21.38 billion, compared to the US$ 31.14 billion recorded in the preceding year.

In September, oil imports dipped 33.5% annually to US$ 6.343 billion from US$ 9.543 billion in the corresponding month of the previous year. Similarly, non-oil imports fell 30.4% to US$ 15.03 billion.

The Trade deficit stood at US$ 7.77 billion in September, narrowing from US$ 15.35 billion deficit last year.

For the April to September period, exports and imports decreased by 28.5% and 32.7%, respectively compared to the same period of the previous year. During the period, the trade deficit amounted to US$ 46.73 billion.
