Sensex rose 36.88 points or 0.2% to 16843.54.
Nifty rose 16.50 points or 0.3% to 4986.25.
Mid Cap rose 0.8%. Small Cap rose 0.2%.
BSE 500 rose 0.5%. Sensex gainers: 22
Of 13 BSE Sectoral indices, 10 posted losses.
Advancers: 1247, Decliners: 1512, Unchanged: 109
Advance/Decline Ratio: 4:5

Nifty Day’s Range: 5043.05 - 4971.75

Sensex gainers included Tata Motors +5.4%, Reliance Infra +4.9%, Tata Steel +3.6%, JP Associaates +3.2%, HUL +2.7% and ITC +2.3%.
Sensex losers included Bharti Airtel -6.6%, Reliance Comm -6%, Sun Pharma -3.4%, TCS -3.4%, Infosys -1.8%, Maruti -1.7%, L & T -1.7% and Wipro -1.4%.
Realty index advanced 2.1% led by HDIL +6.7%, Indiabulls Realty +3.1%, Unitech +2.4%, Sobha Developers +1.4%, DLF +1.2% and Ackruti City +1%.
FMCG rose 2% helped by United Breweries +8.8%, Godrej Consumer +3.2%, HUL +2.7%, Colgate +2.7%, ITC +2.3% and Tata Tea +1.6%.
Auto index climbed 1.7% supported by Tata Motors +5.4%, Ashok Leyland +4.8%, Exide Ind +4.4%, Cummins +3.8%, Apollo Tyres +3% and Bharat Forge +2.4%.
Oil & Gas index surged 1.4% assisted by GAIL +3.7%, BPCL +2.5%, HPCL +2.2%, Cairn India +2%, ONGC +2% and IOC +1.1%.
Power index rose 1.3% facilitated by Siemens +5.6%, Reliance Infra +4.9%, Neyveli Lignite +4%, ABB +1.8%, NTPC +1.4% and Suzlon Energy +1.4%.
Other sectoral movers were: Metal +1.3%, Bankex +1%, Bankex +1%, Consumer Durables +0.9%, PSU +0.9% and Healthcare +0.8%.
Teck index lost 2.8% led by Bharti Airtel -6.6%, Reliance Comm -6%, Tanla Solutions -5.4%, TCS -3.4%, HCL Tech -3.2% and Mphasis -2.7%.
Other sectoral losers were: IT -2.8% and Capital Goods -0.01%.
Buzzers:
FIEM +20% at Rs 105.60, Stovec Ind +20% at Rs 230.10, Aeonian Pub +20% at Rs 204.80, Investmnent and Precision +20% at Rs 93.70, Ashiana Housing +20% at Rs 88.40 and Halonix +15.3% at Rs 103.55.
Heavy Losers:
Alkali Metals -14.2% at Rs 203, Omkar Overseas -10% at Rs 68.20, LGS Global -9.1% at Rs 71.35, Rungta Irrigation -8.7% at Rs 38.25 and Laxmi Mills -8.7% at Rs 1475.
Midcap Gainers:
Sun Pharma Advanced, Castrol, GE Shipping, Aurobindo Pharma and Nagarjuna Construction surged 5-8%.
Midcap Losers:
Sintex India, Asian Star, Piramal Health, Max India and United Phosphorous fell 2.5-5%.
Smallcap Losers:
Premier, Bajaj Electrical, Gammon India, ISMT and Henkel India went -5%.
Infotech fell 4Asian Markets:
Asian markets ended mixed. Hang Seng and Kospi were up over 1%. Nikkei and Straits Times gained 0.3-0.6%. However, Taiwan and Jakarta declined over 1%.
European Markets:
Europen markets were trading higher. FTSE: -0.4%, DAX: -0.3%, CAC -0.2%.
Crude:
Crude was quoting at $70.23 a barrel.
Market to move cautiously:
Traders said they expected the market to move cautiously until quarterly earnings, which would be kicked off by software services bellwether Infosys on Friday, come through.
