Bob Pisani, in a recent CNBC segment, looked into the different ways an index can be spliced up by an ETF through weighting methodologies. His example index was the S&P 500 (^GSPC), and shows the performance this year based on the different approaches
The four ETFs used for comparison are: S&P DEP RECEIPTS (SPY), ALPS (EQL), RevenueShares Large Cap (RWL) and the Rydex S&P Equal Weight (RSP). see the video below:
