Failed Auctions: A Sign Of Stock Market Weakness?
By David Spurr on August 26, 2009 | More Posts By David Spurr | Author's Website
We saw a couple of failed auctions on Monday and Tuesday ; Heavy selling came in around 1038 level and drove the Futures down to the lows; They were not able to muster the buyers to pull the futures higher than the 1038 print. Intersting to note that both Mon. and Tues. closes were very weak at the end of the day.
Over the last month - any sign of weakness has been met with immediate buying ; It has not happened on Monday or Tues. Opening range was over twelve point on the ES ; Also the new high 1038 was greeted with high volume selling. The other 30m auctions that ended lower than the opens tended to be higher volume than the auctions that finished higher.
