UK June Shop Price Inflation Slows For Third Consecutive Month

(RTTNews) - British BRC-Nielsen shop price index rose 0.7% year-over-year in June, slower than the 1.3% increase in the previous month, the British Retail Consortium said Wednesday. This was the third consecutive month of decline in shop price inflation.

The shop price inflation was the lowest since last December, the BRC said.

The food price annual inflation slowed to 5.6% in June from 6.4% in May. The inflation dropped to its lowest level for 14 months. At the same time, non-food prices dropped further to 1.9% from 1.3% in May.

On a monthly basis, shop price index increased 0.2% in June, compared to the 0.5% growth in the preceding month. Food prices and non-food prices increased 0.3% and 0.1%, respectively.
