India’s Economy To Improve In June- Trade Secretary

(RTTNews) - India’s economy would improve in June, media reports quoting the Trade Secretary Gopal Pillai said. He said that fiscal and monetary steps taken by the government would start taking effect by then.

India’s economy is likely to grow 7% or less in the year to March compared with 9% or more for the last three years, as the global financial crisis takes its toll. Exports are expected to decline and domestic consumption is likely to moderate. The government and the central bank have announced rate cuts, spending packages and tax cuts, among other measures.
