German Unemployment Falls More Than Expected In September

(RTTNews) - The number of unemployed in Germany decreased more than expected in September amid economic slowdown and tensions in the financial markets.

Tuesday, a report from the Federal Labor Office showed that the number of unemployed people decreased 29,000 in September. That was higher than the expected fall of 15,000. At the same time, the September figure was smaller, compared to a revised decrease of 39,000 in August. Earlier, the labor office had reported a 40,000 decline for August.

At the same time, the jobless rate fell to 7.6% in September from an upwardly revised 7.7% in August. The jobless rate for August was revised from 7.6% reported earlier. However, the figure for September came in line with economists’ expectations.
