Ride the UltraShort Financials ETF SKF (SKF). If they ban ETFs, especially the SKF, that will cause a major global firestorm from institutions, so don’t expect that to happen just yet. Look at the volume on Friday! Only 19.3 million - the lowest since June (July 3rd’s half-day doesn’t count)!

Hi John,
Thank you for sharing! I’m just a little puzzled. The SEC banned shorting of the financial sector. So what if we buy into SKF?they too cant short financials right?
Or do they already hold financial stocks in their arsenal and is waiting to sell, hence will be selling instead of shorting?
There’s a good chance they won’t be banning ETFs. New shares won’t be created, but existing ones will be held.
To answer the many questions you might have, I posted the article on my blog, under the same “If You Still Want to Short Financials” post.
