(RTTNews) - Tuesday, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office said industrial production increased 6.1% year-on-year in the second quarter, after rising a revised 4.2% in the first three months of the year. Economists were looking for an increase of 3% for the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Swiss industrial orders grew 5.4% from the year-ago, compared with a 6% increase in the first quarter. Industrial turnover rose 8.9%, after growing 6.8% in the previous quarter.

Quarter-on-quarter, industrial production grew 8.9% in the second quarter.
