Italian Trade Balance Shows Deficit In June
(RTTNews) - The Italian trade balance showed a deficit as exports declined in June from the prior year, official data showed Friday.
The trade deficit totaled EUR1.03 billion in June compared with a surplus of EUR395 million in the prior year, the statistical office ISTAT reported. Exports in June declined 3.8%, while imports grew 0.6% on an annual basis.
According to the statistical office, foreign trade with EU nations showed a surplus of EUR1.32 billion, larger than the EUR565 million in June 2007. Exports fell 3.6% year-on-year to EUR18.53 billion and imports dropped at a higher pace of 7.7% to EUR17.21 billion.
