Ford’s Truck Problem

Speaking of energy, here is a quick look at the YoY change in sales for various Ford Trucks:

It’s a simple story really: Ford [[f]] was losing money in 2007 when they were selling a lot more trucks, so the outlook for 2008 through 2009 looks fairly bad (in spite of their cost cutting initiatives) due to a decline in sales of the most profitable product line. The question offered is: when does Ford wake-up and re-focus its efforts on building a line of cars with “truck like margins”?
Furthermore when does Ford stop making idiotic product moves like trying to sell the U.S. market an ugly (if not bastardized) version of a car from its European division that would probably do quite well here?
Better yet: when does Ford wake-up and notice that Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche & Volkswagen are all doing quite well in the U.S. market by selling identical versions of cars they sell in Europe?
