Mauritius October Headline Inflation Rate At 3.6%
(RTTNews) - Monday, the Central Statistical Office of Mauritius reported that the headline inflation rate stood at 3.6% in October compared to 9.9% a year ago. On a monthly basis, prices were down 0.4% in October.
Prices in the transport sector recorded the largest monthly decline, down 2.3% in October, while health costs registered the biggest increase, up 0.7%. In terms of commodities, the main contributors to the monthly decline were gasoline, vegetables, other food products and diesel oil prices.
For the financial year 2008-09, the headline inflation rate was 6.9%.
