Australia Q3 House Prices +4.2% On Quarter
(RTTNews) - House prices in Australia were up 4.2 percent in the third quarter of 2009 compared to the previous three months, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday, after falling a revised 1.50 percent in Q2.
On a regional basis, prices in Melbourne were up 4.7 percent on quarter, followed by gains in Perth (4.5 percent), Brisbane (4.4 percent), Sydney and Canberra (4.3 percent), Darwin (3.4 percent), Hobart (1.8 percent) and Adelaide (1.7 percent).
On an annual basis, home prices jumped 6.2 percent following the 1.4 percent contraction in the second quarter. Darwin led the charge with a 12.3 percent annual spike.
