(RTTNews) - Japan’s housing starts dipped 37% on a yearly basis in September, but slower than a 38.3% fall seen in August, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said Friday. The fall came in line with economists’ expectations. Housing starts have been falling continuously since December last year.
During the month, the annualized housing starts totaled 699,000, on a seasonally adjusted basis, up from 676,000 in August, but coming in line with economists’ expectations.
Meanwhile, construction orders received by the 50 big contractors fell 14%, slower than a 25.2% fall seen in August.
