New Zealand ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence At 22-Month High

(RTTNews) - New Zealand ’s consumer confidence rose to a 22-month high in October, adding to hopes that the economic recovery is strengthening, the latest ANZ-Roy Morgan survey showed.

The confidence index rose 5.9 points from September to 125.9. “While the headline confidence measure has improved, it masks a wide gulf that has opened up between expectations of the future versus how consumers are feeling right at the moment”, Roy Morgan said. The future conditions index rose to a record high in October, but the current conditions index remained below 100, indicating pessimists marginally out-number the optimists.
