New Zealand September Visitor Arrivals Up 9% On Year
(RTTNews) - The number of overseas visitor arrivals to New Zealand jumped by 9 percent in September compared to one year earlier.
Statistics NZ reported Wednesday that there were 172,400 visitor arrivals in September 2009, and increase of 14,700 from September 2008. The agency said it marked the biggest increase since April 2006.
The number of visitors from Australia increased 15 percent, with September being the sixth straight month of sizeable increases in tourist visits from Australia.
Residents of New Zealand, meanwhile, departed on 193,300 overseas trips in September, an increase of one percent from September 2008.
Statistics NZ also reported New Zealand experienced a net gain of 17,000 permanent and long-term arrivals for the year to September.
