Europe New Car Registrations Continue To Rise In September
(RTTNews) - European passenger car registrations increased 6.3% year-on-year to 1,388,136 in September, the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association said Thursday. It follows 3% growth in August. New car registrations have been rising since June 2009 as various incentive schemes boosted sales.
New car sales in the West European market increased 9.6% compared to the same month last year, the largest rise since 1999.
Germany remained the best performer with a 21% rise followed by Spain with an 18% growth in light of the country’s incentive scheme nearing its end. Austria, France, Norway, the UK, Italy and Switzerland also recorded positive results, the association said.
In the nine months of the year, registrations of new cars in Europe were down 6.6% over the same period of 2008.
