Swiss Trade Surplus Shrinks In August

(RTTNews) - Tuesday, the Federal Customs Administration said Switzerland’s trade surplus stood at CHF 1.79 billion in August, down from CHF 2.21 billion surplus in July, revised from CHF 2.35 billion reported initially.

Exports in real terms decreased 15.3% year-on-year to CHF 12.96 billion in August, while imports fell 13.3% to CHF 11.18 billion.

On a monthly basis, exports increased 2% in August, while imports fell 2.5%.

For the January to August period, exports and imports decreased by 16.8% and 11.3%, respectively. During the period, the trade surplus amounted to CHF 12.73 billion .
