Estonia Revises June Trade Deficit

(RTTNews) - Monday, the Statistics Estonia said in a final report that the trade deficit stood at EEK 0.42 billion in June, narrowing from EEK 0.48 billion in May. The trade deficit in June was revised from the EEK 0.7 billion reported initially.

The statistical office said the trade deficit was nearly eight times lower than EEK 3.3 billion in June last year. Exports of petroleum products in June was more than twice bigger than a year ago.

Exports fell 30% year-on-year to EEK 9.4 billion in June, unrevised from the preliminary report. Meanwhile imports fell 30% to EEK 9.8 billion, revised from 29% decline estimated initially.

On a monthly basis, exports and imports increased by 17% and 15%, respectively in June. The monthly imports figure was revised from 19% fall reported previously.

For the first six months of the year, exports dipped 27% over a year ago, while imports fell 36%. During the period, the trade deficit amounted to EEK 6.8 billion.
