Macau Retail Sales Climb In Q2

(RTTNews) - Macau’s retail sales value climbed 11% year-on-year in the second d quarter, a report by the Statistics and Census Service said Thursday. The value of sales increased to MOP 5.13 billion from MOP 4.63 billion a year earlier.

Watches, clocks and jewelry, having the highest share in the total sales climbed 22% on a yearly basis, while department store sales, with the second largest share, rose 34%.

However, retail sales of automotive fuels fell 24%, and sales of motor vehicles and fuels for household use declined 19% and 18% respectively.

Compared to the first quarter, retail sales value increased 3% in the second quarter. In the first half of the year, retail sales climbed 10% year-on-year to MOP10.10 billion.
