Australia July Merchandise Imports Up 6.0% On Month

(RTTNews) - Australia’s July merchandise imports increased by 6 percent over the revised figure for June.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Thursday that July merchandise imports totaled A$16.698 billion, an increase of just over A$1 billion from the month before.

The preliminary balance of payments increased by 4 percent or a seasonally adjusted A$678 million compared to the month before.

Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose 7 percent, fuels and lubricants were up 21 percent, capital goods were up 5 percent and industrial transport equipment was up 30 percent.
