Choppy Trading Persists On Wall Street In The Late Morning - U.S. Commentary

(RTTNews) - With traders expressing some uncertainty about the outlook for the markets as the earnings season gets underway, stocks have shown a lack of direction throughout morning trading on Thursday. The major averages have been unable to sustain any significant moves.

Nonetheless, metal stocks have managed to perform well along with semiconductor, natural gas, and housing stocks. On the other hand, considerable weakness has emerged among healthcare provider, health insurance, and pharmaceutical stocks.

The major averages are currently on opposite sides of the unchanged line, with the Dow posting a modest loss. While the Dow is currently down 11.56 at 8,166.85, the Nasdaq is up 3.82 at 1,750.99 and the S&P 500 is up 1.44 at 881.00.
