Australia May Home Loans Up 2.2% On Month
(RTTNews) - The number of loans issued for new housing in Australia increased in May by 2.2 percent over April.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Wednesday that housing finance commitments totaled 63,855 in seasonally adjusted terms. The loans carried a total value of A$17.05 billion.
The value of investment housing loans increased 2.4 percent in May compared to April.
The Bureau said loan approvals to build houses was up a seasonally adjusted 8.0 percent on month in May, approvals to purchase newly built homes were up 2.9 percent, and the number of approvals to purchase existing houses was up 1.5 percent.
