Taiwan CPI On Tap For Monday

(RTTNews) - Taiwan is scheduled to announce June figures for its consumer and wholesale price indices on Monday, headlining a light day for Asia-Pacific economic news. Inflation is expected to retreat 1.5 percent on year following the 0.08 percent annual contraction in May. WPI is called lower by 14.44 percent on year after falling an annual 13.45 percent in the previous month.

Japan will release its preliminary leading and coincident indices for May. The leading indicator is forecast to post a score of 77, up slightly from 76.2 in April. The coincident index is expected to hold steady right around the previous month’s reading of 86.0. The Bank of Japan also will hold its quarterly branch managers’ meeting in Tokyo.

Australia will provide inflation estimates for June after they came in lower in May by 24.8 percent on year and 0.3 percent on month. Also due are job advertisements for June, which had fallen 0.2 percent a month earlier.

Finally, the Stock Exchange of Thailand will be closed Monday and Tuesday for the Asarnha Bucha holiday. It will re-open on Wednesday.
