Eurozone May Jobless Rate Highest In 10 Years

(RTTNews) - Eurozone’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate came in at 9.5% in May, up from a revised 9.3% in the preceding month, a report from the Eurostat showed Thursday. Economists expected the rate to be 9.4%. This was the highest rate since May 1999. A year earlier, the jobless rate was 7.4%

In May, the number of unemployed persons increased by 273,000 month-on-month to 15.01 million. Compared to the previous year, unemployment rose by 3.4 million.
