RBA Assistant Governor Says Conditions Improved In Financial Markets

(RTTNews) - Recent improvements in Australia’s credit, currency and swap markets and re-pricing in some of the markets indicate that the country’s financial markets are in a good position now, the Reserve Bank of Australia’s assistant governor for financial markets, Guy Debelle told news Web site Business Spectators.

He noted that recent increase in commodity prices, especially oil is a good news for Australia. He added that monetary and fiscal stimuli have helped to improve global economic conditions significantly.

Moreover, Debelle said he did not foresee considerable problems as central banks and governments wound back conventional and unconventional responses to the downturn, the Web site showed.

Commenting on the stress test conducted among banks in the U.S., Debelle said the results show that U.S. banks have enough capital to survive for the next couple of years.
