Bank of Thailand Retains Key Interest Rate

(RTTNews) - The Bank of Thailand decided to leave the policy interest rate unchanged on Wednesday.

The Monetary Policy Committee of the central bank maintained the interest rate at 1.25% per annum. Economists were expecting a 25 basis point reduction. The MPC viewed that the current policy interest rate of 1.25% per annum was low and would continue to aid the process of economic recovery.

The central bank said it will continue to monitor closely the uncertainty surrounding both domestic and external economic conditions, and would stand ready to implement appropriate monetary policy to ensure economic expansion in the periods ahead.
