Stocks See Modest Strength Amid Subdued Buying Interest - U.S. Commentary

(RTTNews) - Stocks have moved modestly higher in early trading on Friday, with the major averages seeing some further upside after ending the previous session notably higher. Nonetheless, buying interest has remained somewhat subdued.

Benefiting from a pullback by the price of oil, airline stocks are turning in some of the market’s best performances. Housing and railroad stocks are also posting strong gains, while some weakness has emerged among utilities, health insurance, and real estate stocks.

In the past few minutes, the major averages have moved off their highs for the young session, but they are currently clinging to modest gains. The Dow is currently up 22.14 at 8,353.46, the Nasdaq is up 2.37 at 1,691.58 and the S&P 500 is up 1.07 at 894.14.
