Macau’s Consumer Price Inflation Eases In January
(RTTNews) - Friday, a report by Macau’s Statistics and Census Service said the composite consumer price index rose 5.78% year-on-year in January, slowing from a 6.16% rise in December.
In January, price of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 12.25%, while price of clothing and footwear increased 12.09%. Price of recreation and culture was up 11.23% in the month.
Housing prices rose 1.72%, reflecting higher rental prices for housing, but lower LPG prices as also electricity subsidy provided by the government. Miscellaneous good and service price increased 6.22%.
On the other hand, price of transport fell 7.44%, due to falling gasoline prices and bus-fare subsidy provided by the government.
Month-on-month, consumer prices rose 0.59% in January, reversing a 0.27% fall in December.
For the twelve months ended January, the average composite consumer prices were up 8.39% compared to last year.
