Finnish Current Account Surplus Decreases In December

(RTTNews) - Friday, a report by Bank of Finland said the current account surplus decreased to EUR336 million in December from EUR560 million in November.

The surplus in the goods account declined to EUR291 million from EUR 468 million, while the surplus in the services account increased to EUR 53 million from EUR 32 million.

The surplus in the income account rose to EUR108 million in December from EUR 44 million in the previous month. However, the balance in the current transfers account turned to a deficit of EUR 115 million from a surplus of EUR 17 million in November.

Meanwhile, the surplus in the financial account grew to EUR 2.8 billion in December from EUR 2.7 billion in November.

In the year 2008, the current surplus stood at EUR 4.7 billion, down from EUR7.3 billion in 2007.
