EU Looks For Positive Figures for Euro Zone Economy By H2′09, Says Spokesperson
(CEP News) Frankfurt - While advance estimates point to a record fall in euro zone GDP in Q4, the European Union expects a recovery by the second half of this year, according to a spokesperson.
“This figure isn’t a surprise, unfortunately,” EU spokesperson Amelia Torres said journalists in Brussels following reports of an economic contraction 1.5% quarter-over-quarter in the three months to December. “These aren’t good figures,” she said. Torres added that more negative data is expected for Q1.
“(However), we hope to get into more positive figures as from the second half of this year,” Torres said.
