Dutch Retail Sales Rise in 2008
(RTTNews) - Friday, a report by the Netherlands’ Central Bureau of Statistics said retail sales rose 2.6% year-on-year in 2008, mainly due to increase in prices. Volume of retail sales was up 0.3% in the year.
Retail sales in supermarkets grew 7.5%. The report said that within food stores, the share of supermarkets in sales increased to 86%.
In December, retail sales grew 2% year-on-year. Turnover in shops selling non-food items remained stable, while sales in supermarkets increased.
