Ireland Consumer Price Inflation Drops In January

(RTTNews) - Thursday, Ireland’s Central Statistical Office announced that the consumer price index or CPI declined 0.1% year-over-year in January, in contrast to a 1.1% rise recorded in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, the CPI dropped 1.7% in January, after falling 1.2% in December. A year ago, the monthly inflation was down 0.5%.

The harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP rose 1.1% year-over-year in January, slower than the 1.3% recorded in the previous month. Month-on-month, the HICP dropped 0.8% in January, compared with a 0.7% fall in the previous month.
