Czech Current Account Deficit Worsens In December
(RTTNews) - Thursday, a report by the Czech National Bank said the current account deficit widened to CZK20.6 billion in December from a deficit of CZK 8.71 billion in November. Economists expected a trade deficit of CZK 17.6 billion.
The goods account recorded a deficit of CZK 9.5 billion, reversing the surplus of CZK 2.4 billion in November. Exports declined to CZK 153.3 billion from CZK 197.4 billion, while imports declined to CZK 162.8 billion from CZK 192.3 billion.
The surplus in the services account increased to CZK 5.8 billion from CZK 5.2 billion.
The deficit in the income account increased to CZK 15.1 billion from CZK 15 billion in the previous month. The deficit in the current transfers account grew to CZK 1.8 billion from CZK 1.4 billion in November.
Meanwhile, the surplus in the capital account declined sharply to CZK 167 million in December from CZK 790 million in the previous month. However, the surplus in the financial account improved to CZK 28 billion from CZK 17.2 billion.
