Australian short-term tourist arrivals rise in December
(RTTNews) - Friday, a report by the Australian Bureau of Statistics said short-term visitor arrivals into the country rose a seasonally adjusted 3.4% month-on-month in December, following a 0.8% decrease in November. The number of tourist arrivals totaled 464,600 in December, up from 449,300 in the previous month.
On the basis of original estimates, there were 611,400 arrivals into Australia in December.
Meanwhile, short-term departures by residents increased 3.2% on a monthly basis in December, reversing a 2.8% decline in the previous month. The number of tourist departures increased to 491,500 from 476,300 in November.
On the basis of original estimates, about 642,600 short-term departures took place in December.
