Australia October Retail Sales Up 0.7% On Month

(RTTNews) - Retail sales in Australia increased in October.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Tuesday that overall retail sales increased a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent, following a revised contraction of 1.0 percent in September.

The statistics bureau reported that its trend estimate for retail sales increased 0.2 percent in October, following increases of 0.2 percent for each of the previous two months.

The trend increase was led by the food retailing category, which rose 0.6 percent and other retailing which rose 0.8 percent.

The trend estimate for October increased 2.0 percent over the figure for October 2007.
