Estonian October Retail Sales Decline

(RTTNews) - Monday, a report by Statistics Estonia said retail sales at constant prices fell 7% year-on-year in October. Retail sales of retail trade enterprises were valued 4.6 billion kroons.

The decline in retail sales was mainly influenced by a 14% drop in sales in stores selling manufactured goods. Retail sales in stores selling textiles, clothing and footwear slipped 21%, while retail sales in stores selling household goods, appliances, hardware as also building materials fell 18%. The report said the drop in retail sales of clothing and footwear was mainly due to high prices for these goods.

On a monthly basis, retail sales increased 3% at constant prices in October.

Meanwhile, the revenue from retail sales at current prices slipped 2% year-on-year in October, but increased 2% compared to the previous month. The revenue from retail sales totaled 5.5 billion kroons in the month.Retail sales of goods accounted for 85% of total revenues.
