Estonian Industrial Output Continues To Fall In September

(RTTNews) - Friday, a report by Statistics Estonia said industrial output declined a working day adjusted 3.8% year-on-year in September compared with a 2.6% fall in August. Mining output slumped 14.9% while energy production slipped 1.7%.

Manufacturing output fell 3.2%, mainly due to an insufficient market demand. Within the manufacturing sector, the steepest fall of 32% was in the manufacture of building materials. This was followed by a 19% drop in the manufacture of wood and wood products. Manufacture of food products and beverages declined 9.8% mainly due to a decrease in consumption resulting from price rise.

On the other hand, production increased in the export oriented industries. The fastest rise of 44.5% was in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. Moreover, production also increased in the manufacture of metal products and electrical machinery.

In unadjusted terms, industrial production rose 1.3% in September after slipping 7.5% in August.

Month-on-month, industrial output rose a seasonally adjusted 0.5% in September compared with a 1.6% growth in August. Energy production rose 7.4%, while mining and manufacturing output fell 1.8% and 0.2% respectively.
