(RTTNews) - Thursday, Japanese media reports said Prime Minister Taro Aso is set to announce an additional 5 trillion or $51 billion economic stimulus package today. Further, it was reported that, consequently, Aso might delay plans for a snap election in November. The stimulus package for the world’s second largest economy will include financial support measures for households and an extension of tax relief on home loans.
Aso is also likely to table his second fiscal 2008 supplementary budget bill to cover the cost, leading dailies including the Nikkei, the Asahi Shimbun and the Yomiuri Shimbun reported without disclosing sources. On October 16, the parliament had passed a 1.81 trillion yen supplementary budget to fund an economic package.
