New Zealand September Electronic Card Spending Up 0.8% On Month
(RTTNews) - The value of credit and debit card spending in New Zealand increased by a seasonally adjusted 0.8 percent in September compared to August.
Statistics NZ reported Monday that the increase in electronic card transactions was driven largely by non-retail industries. Retail transactions were flat.
The agency said there were 84 million electronic transactions in September, valued at a total of NZ$4.5 billion.
The core retail total, which excludes motor vehicle related transactions, was down 0.4 percent in September following a 1.6 percent increase in August. Increases in motor vehicle-related industries and consumables were offset by drops in the purchases of apparel and durable goods.
