Australian Avg. Enterprise Wages +4.0% In Q2
(RTTNews) - Annual wages in Australia climbed an average of 4.0 percent on year in the second quarter of 2008, the Department of Employment said on Monday. That’s up from the 3.7 percent annual increase in the first quarter.
Private sector average wages were up 3.9 percent in the quarter, up from the 3.7 percent on-year increase in the first quarter. In the public sector, wages were up an average 4.1 percent in Q2 following the 3.9 percent annual increase in the previous quarter.
Wage rises under all current agreements added 3.9 percent on year, easing from 4.0 percent in the previous quarter. The private sector was down to 3.7 percent from 3.8 percent in Q1, the data showed, while the public sector fell to 4.2 percent from 4.3 percent in the previous quarter.
