South Korean GDP Due On Tuesday
(RTTNews) - South Korea is scheduled to release preliminary Q3 numbers for gross domestic product on Tuesday, headlining a light day in Asian economic news. On an annual basis, GDP was up 4.8 percent in the previous quarter. Compared to the previous quarter, GDP was up 0.8 percent. South Korea also is expected to release foreign reserves numbers for August, with analysts looking for a surplus of $241.2 billion. That’s down from the $247.52 billion surplus in July.
Singapore is scheduled to release August numbers for PMI and electronics PMI. The PMI is expected to register a score of 50.5, down from the previous month’s reading of 51.6. The electronics PMI is forecast to show a score of 50.9, down slightly from 51.1 a month earlier.
Japan will announce August numbers for its monetary base, which posted a 0.7 percent contraction in the previous month. Also, Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa is scheduled to speak in the afternoon at a business meeting in Nagoya, followed by a press conference and another speech at Nagoya University. Japan also will hold a 10-year government bond auction. Finally, the G7 finance ministers and central bankers will meet in Tokyo.
