Consumer Confidence Index Jumps To 56.9 In August
(RTTNews) - Consumer confidence increased by much more than anticipated in the month of August, according to a report released by the Conference Board on Tuesday, with the improvement reflecting a notable increase in confidence in the outlook for the next six months.
The Conference Board said its consumer confidence index jumped to 56.9 in August from an unrevised 51.9 in July. The increase came in well above the expectations of economists, who had expected the index to edge up to 53.0.
