European Economics Preview: UK Industrial Output, PPI Reports Due

(RTTNews) - Friday, major statistical reports due for the day are UK industrial production, producer prices and Swiss unemployment.

At 1.45am ET, the Swiss jobless data is due. The unemployment rate in January is expected to rise to 3.2% from 3% in December. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate is seen at 2.9%, up from 2.8% in the prior month.

Thereafter, German raw steel production and insolvencies are due from the Federal Statistical Office. In the meantime, the Statistics Estonia is scheduled to issue the January consumer price inflation data. In December, annual inflation was 7%. The Finnish trend indicator of output is also due.

At 2.45am ET, the French Customs Office is set to issue the trade balance. Economists expect the trade deficit to narrow to EUR 5.7 billion from EUR 6.2 billion in November.

At 3.00am ET, Spanish import and export prices and Hungarian industrial output are expected. Hungarian industrial output is predicted to decline 14.3% annually in December.

The Statistics Norway is slated to issue the industrial production report.

Half an hour later, the Office for National Statistics is expected to release UK’s industrial production and producer prices details. After falling 2.3% in November, industrial production is predicted to fall 1.2% in December. Meanwhile, manufacturing output is expected to drop 1.4% compared to November’s 2.9% decline.

Further, UK’s output prices annual inflation in January is forecast to slow to 3.4% from 4.7% and input price inflation is seen at 2%, down from 4.3% in December.

At 6.00am ET, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is set to report German industrial production. Economists predict industrial production to fall 2.5% month-on-month in December, slower than a 3.1% decrease seen in November.
