Any idea how this card stacks up with redeeming for occasional International travel?

Is there a minimum amount of $ that must be spent for the first purchase (in order to receive the 25,000 bonus miles)?

Is the annual fee based on calendar year or based on the day that you sign up for the card?

Any idea how long it takes to get the 50,000 points into your account and made avaiable for use? I’m looking a trip in early 2012 and would need to get the tickets soon.

@TJ
The semi-hidden print on the application page says “You will qualify for and receive your bonus points after your first purchase. First purchase does not include using your account for balance transfers or cash advances, or using any checks that access your account. After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account.”

No, I made a $22 purchase and paid it off prior to the statement and my rewards posted the same day to my linked account.

Can you use the points for another person – to fly my son here – or do they only apply to the cardholder like the rapid rewards?

@Debra & @Charlene -

I am pretty sure points can be used to buy a ticket for someone else. My friend recently received the card, and was able to fly herself + two family members out to San Francisco, all using the same rewards points. She called and spoke to someone at the credit card company to find out, but she said it was no hassle at all.

Yes, you can use the points to purchase tickets for someone else. If they then don’t end up using the flight the points go back into your account but the $5-$10 security fee that you must pay for will be as a credit under the ticket holders name & that reservation number to be used in the next year. I get tickets using my dad’s points all the time.

We have had this card for years, and no, Debra, you can use the points for purchase of a ticket for anyone. The bonus we love is that you don’t have a baggage fee.

What are rules about cancellation. If I decided I don’t want to keep the card can I cancel the card after 3 months, 6 months, or what?

When you use your Case credit card, when do you see the Southwest Rapid Rewards in your Southwest account?

I found out the hard way that my credit card company was, I thought, giving me air miles for using their card. It is, but I have to use their booking agent. Which means that I will not get as good a deal on air fares as when I book it myself. Is Southwest like this? Use their booking agent or company?

It took us about 3 weeks to get our 50,000 points after the card was activated and first purchase made.

Can I make payments to this credit card online if I don’t have a chase checking or savings account?

Can I make online payments using the checking account I have from another bank?
