Hi Katrina, thanks for all the info regarding this Hilton card, I’ve read a lot of information about this card since I would like to use this card on my wireless and gas spending. I’ve also learned that to redeem your point on a tier one hotel (7500 pts), each point worth 1.7 cents which is totally amazing. However after couple hours of searching on all the hotels around the world, I’ve literally found only one tier one hotel at a little town of Texas. And most of the mid class hotels make each point worth only 0.4-0.5 cents, and for a expensive room your point worth 0.75 cent each at the most. So I come to the conclusion that in average your point worth 0.5 cent each which is only half of the current industry standard (1cent). Therefore, I now doubt that if this card is worth to apply. I would love to stay only in tier 1 hotel to make my points worth the most as long as there is more than just ONE tier 1 hotel around the world.

This Hilton Card is a poor card. The Starwood card is the best there is for hotel stays. The points to stay at equivalent hotels as Hilton is much less. You have the optoin to convrt your points to miles with an additional 20% gift. However, the fancy hoteld you can stay at are a much better use of the point. The points shen you stay at hotels is worth more like 3.5-4 cents per point.

I agree with Herman the Frog. I applied for the SPG AmEx and got 20,000 points which can go a long way (5 nights in Cairo, 2 nights in San Diego or Phuket…). Just use the card once, and get the points…free first year too.

With Hilton you may loose your points after one year – pity – but can get lucky to extend another year. SGP points never go away.
